Students couldn’t ask for more! They were excited, overwhelmed and had an amazing experience learning the ABC of RJing from the Love Guru himself. RJ Rahul Makin visited NBA School of Mass Communication on 27th July and took a two-hour session with the fresh batches – both – UG and PG. Learning about the industry and the technique of radio presentation from one of the most popular RJs of the country was a memorable experience for students. To add to the students’ smiles, we even had a fun photo-op session after RJ Makin’s lecture.
It was quite a learning experience for PGDMC students from NBA School of Mass Communication when they went to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 26th July for attending the shoot of Agenda. The Guest of Honor was none other than SHARMISHTHA MUKHERJEE (daughter of the Honorable President of India), a well-known politician and Kathak dancer. Sunetra Chowdhury (Eminent Journalist and well-known TV Anchor) hosted the show, discussing about Dr. Pranab Mukherjee’s accomplishments as the President of the world’s largest democracy – India. NBAites also got opportunities to interact with Miss Mukherjee and Sunetra.

People at the Bhikaji Cama Place in New Delhi were in for a treat when students of NBA School of Mass Communication and Journalism arrived there brimming with confidence to send a message through street play performances. Under the leadership of Mr. Rohit Arora, BMC First year students of the Jain TV Institute divided into three groups, captivated viewers with their energetic showcase of talent.
Group 1, consisting of Nadeem, Tushar, Mahria, Pratishtha, Akhil, Caroline, Nikita, Pritam and Raja highlighted the sad reality of the dotcom revolution. Through their play, these youngsters sent a strong message that instead of getting lost in the virtual world, it is high time that we realize to recognize and respect real relationships. They also highlighted other significant issues like the selfie obsession as well as cybercrime and its consequences.
Chitranshu, Sujeet, Priya, Urvashi, Kartikey, Dolly and Mahima were in the second group. They talked about three major social challenges, including Reservation in the Education System of India, Gender Discrimination and Child Labour.
The last group came with the most energy. Their act ‘Hume Kya’ was based on Crime Against Women and with strong actors as well as good content, they conveyed their message with full conviction. Nimanshi, Nidhi, Nupur, Ankur, Abhishek Khurana, Deepak, Sujjain, Namya, Ashwathy, Nihit and Anitesh were participants of the last group.
An interesting Yoga Session was organized at NBA School of Mass Communication on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Well-known Yoga instructor Ms. Pooja Savita, was invited specially to conduct a session with students and faculties. The session began with meditation and warming up exercise and then a host of different asanas were practiced in the campus. Students were taught the art of such asanas that help in enhancing concentration power and releasing stress. In today’s hectic age of competition and struggle, yoga is indeed a boon and NBA Family embraces it with open arms.
NBA School of Mass Communication organized an interesting Talent Hunt Show for BMC students on 20th June, 2016 in campus. NBA’s Got Talent was a platform where all BMC 1st year students were invited to showcase their talent. The best and most unique thing about this event was that there were no restrictions of categories for students to participate in. They had complete freedom of coming up and showcasing the best of their skills.
From oratory to speeches and radio jingles to monologues, NBAites left no stones unturned to impress the panel of judges. Some danced on Bollywood numbers while some played drums on electronic apps; some captivated audiences with their melodious singing while some enthralled viewers with Hip Hop swag!
After the competition, 3 best performers, including Nimanshi, Nilanshi and Suyash, were awarded while 7 other were given consolation prizes by the Dean of NBA Group of Institutions – Mr. Amlan Ray. This was followed by a DJ Party where students grooved on the dance floor while enjoying snacks and drinks.
On 31st May our final year students of Post Graduate and Under Graduate were given a grand farewell party by their juniors and staff of NBA at one of the premier lounge in the city of Delhi, Odd Even Lounge, MGF Mall, Saket.
The evening started with the welcome speech by the Dean for passing out batch. Hilarious gags and hosting by Shivam Bharadwaj and Mirza Nsir Beg made it a fun filled event. Seniors were given titles by the faculty and juniors. Academic Awards of Cash Prize were given to the brightest students Khushboo Kumari and Prachi Sisodia. This was very motivating and emotional for the students of the passing batch.
It was an evening of celebrations where the students danced and partied to their hearts content. The environment was so electrifying that even faculties could not stop themselves to dance with the students. An evening full of fun, music and dance came to an emotional ending, when students started departing with wet eyes and lovely memories to cherish forever.
NBA wishes all the pass out students a very bright future. Make us proud.
“Expressions” - The International Film Festival organized by NBA Group of Institutions was a grand success. The best films were shortlisted and showcased at Films Division Auditorium, New Delhi. The chief guests for the evening were Shri Shyam Jaju, Vice-President BJP and Shri Sudesh Verma, Spokesperson, BJP. The judges for the film festival were writer, director and producer Sona Jain, director and screenwriter Anushka Rizwi and director, editor, producer and screenwriter Leena Yadav. After discussion by the judges, the winners were announced.
The Gold Film Award was given to National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The Silver Film Award was given to Chandigarh Animation University and NBA School of Mass Communication. The Bronze Film Award was given to Chandigarh Animation University. The Jury Award was given to Chandigarh Animation University and Jagran Institute of Media and Mass Communication. The film festival showcased some of the best films made by the students in our country. The movies were very inspirational and reinforced the importance of films in our society.
Master-Chef and Talent Hunt was a festival organized by NBA Group of Institutions on 1st April 2016. The students were encouraged to show their culinary skills and participate in a whole bunch of activities. It was a fun and frolic event that allowed the students to let their hair down and enjoy the festivities. The students from Coventry University, UK were the special guests who also took part in several activities. Several dishes were prepared and the best ones were awarded. The award for the best chef went to Tipu, BMC student of NBA School of Mass Communication. All in All the festival was a grand success. NBA continues to organize festivals that encourage students their creative sides.
The students from Coventry University, UK, arrived on 29th March 2016 and were given a warm welcome by the students and staff of NBA Group of Institutions. There was a lot of positive energy in the air as the students from abroad interacted with their Indian counterparts. They attended two lectures on cross culture management, New Media at day 1 of their visit. This relationship between NBA Group of Institutions and Coventry University has been undertaken to promote culture, knowledge and develop strong bonding between the students of the two countries.
A game of Treasure Hunt was organized by the students of PGDAPR under the guidance of Mr. Dharam Arora and Ms. Namrata Sahani. The theme of the event was decided upon Angels and Devils. The event that took place in the institute on 2nd December, 2015 had its preliminary round on the 30th November. 20 students participated in the main event in groups of two. Students were divided into 5 groups of Angels and 5 of Devils. There were 7 stages to the end of the game and most of the groups cleared the game till the 5th stage. Enthusiasm was evident in all the 10 groups and it ended two students from BMC emerging as the winner of the game. They belonged to the category of Devils. True sporting spirit and group effort to reach the end proved the development of corporate minds. Students are now looking forward to more such events in the near future and showing active participation.
A fund raising event by the name, Donate a Smile was organized on 3rd November, 2015 in the institute by the students of PGDAPR under the guidance of Mr. Dharam Arora. It was a part of the three-day Green Diwali celebration wherein the students of the institute took part in various events in order to spread awareness on the harmful effects of bursting crackers.
The objective behind organizing Donate a Smile was to raise funds for the education of the poor and under-privileged children. A NGO, Smile Foundation was invited to the institute who has been working for the betterment of the lives of these poor children by imparting education.
The day started with a small inauguration ceremony by the Dean of NBA Group of Institutions which was followed by a small presentation by Smile. The later part of the day had a lot in store for those who were a part of the event. There were games, there was food. There were winners and there were smiles. A sum of Rs. 2500 (approx.) was donated to the NGO towards the end of the event and smiles were donated in a true sense.
This year NBA Group of Institution celebrates Diwali in a unique way. NBA organised a 3 day event in which the students participated. The motto of this event was to make people aware about how we can celebrate without harming the environment.
On 1st day two Nukkad Natak were performed by the students at Rahagiri in Connaught Place, spreading the message that we should celebrate green diwali and avoid crackers to save environment. On the same day in the evening Flash Mob was performed by the students in Select Citywalk, Saket.
On 2nd day of event, a group of students performed nukkad natak at chattarpur with the same message so that the primary class children, can also give their contribution in saving the environment.
On the last a fund raising event “Donate a Smile” was organised by PGDAPR batch. In which the fund was raised by students staff and faculty of NBA and later on in the evening a Dj dance party was organised for the students to welcome the festival of diwali.
NBA Group of Institutions - Freshers Party 2015 To start a new life, celebration is must. The freshers party was organised in NBA Group of Institutions on Sep 12, 2015, for the new batches. Singing, ramp walk, loud music, dancing, funny anchors, poetry and Mr & Miss Freshers were the high points of the day. Students were dressed up elegantly and were looking dazzling. Around 24 students walked the ramp to bag the title of Mr & Miss Freshers. It was a tuff competition which made the judges take a long time to decide the winners, Jeetivesh of BMC 1B & Shilpa of PGDAPR won the Mr & Miss Fresher title, respectively. Rajat & Jyoti of PGDMC were the host who kept the audience engaged with their flirting & witty punches. The celebration ended with DJ party and off-course lots of selfies. Quiz is a sort of educational assessment game which has fewer questions of lesser difficulty and requires less time for completion . A game full of good competitive spirit and good comprehension skills. NBA also held the quiz between all the batches of the campus from which from every batch two participants were selected to play the game. It was hosted by Mr. Rachit Patni. The Quiz had various rounds like jumble words, identifying the logos or symbols, Identifying the pictures of people and current affairs questions.
All the rounds were very well attempted by all the participants. The audience were engaged throughout the game as there was random questions which were asked by the audience as well and for every right answer one chocolate was given as a prize. Finally at the end of the game we had our winners from GDMC 3B and the winners were Mr. Mohit Ranjan and Ms. Kritika.
NBA Group of Institutions had organized a seminar on the importance of social service interface for youth. This seminar was chaired by Mr. Ansu Gupta, founder of GOONJ, a prominent NGO that works for the poor. The seminar was held at CD Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre. The seminar was an interactive session where Mr. Gupta stressed on the need for student participation in social activities that are aimed at the upliftment of the poor. The students asked Mr. Gupta as to how they could help. Mr. Gupta answered by encouraging students to take out some time from their daily routines and to devote that time to a social cause. It was a very fruitful interaction where the students got to learn a lot.
We at NBA believe in learning by experiencing it. Industry exposure and Studio visits play an important role in Journalism Studies. Our students recently visited News nation to be a witness the discussion on film phantom controversy. Students got to interact with the Cast and Director of #Phantom.
'Conquering the Media World' - A workshop on August 6th, 2015 at NBA School of Mass Communication
NBA School of Mass Communication on August 6th, 2015 organized a workshop, 'Conquering the media world', to welcome the batch of 2nd year students to the new academic session.
It was an opportunity for the students to get insight of the real media world from the experts themselves. The students were not only told about the integrity of media but also how to plan the career. The first speaker was Mr. Anirudh Rawat, where he emphasized the right career path with growing opportunities in India as well abroad, not only that he also told the importance of team work, right attitude, hard work, smart work, and consistency.
The next speaker was Mr. Maan Bardhan Kanth an editor, having worked with the likes of Dainik Jagran, Times of India, Dainik Bhaskar & HT with around 14 years of experience. He told students the essence of media and how print media operates in the country. He also shared his wonderful experience of working with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
Mr. Vipul Singh, anchor with Jain TV and earlier worked with Zee Business shared his experience of doing live news anchoring and how to handle breaking news and sensitive topics and talk show.
Mr. Nitish Kumar, a renowned investigation journalist who has done a lot of stings operations with the help of national intelligence agencies shared his experience of challenges before an investigative journalist and difficulties while doing a sting operation. He shared his person experience of doi
ng a ever popular story on 'Army ki 'D' company' which was aired on Live India. The entire workshop was a eye opener for the students and the students learned the tricks of the trade right from the working journalist.
First year students took part in the State Presentation activity wherein, they formed groups and presented different states of India. The presentation showcased the cultural differences among the states.
First year students showcased their talent by performing street theater in the campus. Through this they highlighted the prevailing social issues in the society like rape, acid attacks, sanitation, cleanness, corruption etc.
PANACHE' is the most awaited celebration of NBA?s students. PANACHE? is an initiative taken by NBA Group of institutions. NBA appreciates the talent in the field of Mass Communication therefore the event was scheduled for 2 days. On the first day of the festival following activities were organized.
The auditorium rose to thunderous applause on the second day of Panache at Azad Bhawan Auditorium, ICCR, ITO, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by esteemed TV model Karan Malik from the media industry.
The Dean of NBA Group of Institutions Mr. Amlan Dey in his opening speech said 'Panache is an annual festival which gives all the students opportunity to showcase their talent, creative side of students comes out better through this kind of extra curricular activities.'

Media - the Fourth Estate - an essential addition to the powers of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary works as the watchdog of the society. And Journalist protects this scared institution. Journalists are professional people, trying to work within a code of professional ethics. Today there is an immense pressure on journalist from variety of sources which can include the government, employer, advertiser, police etc... where sometimes freebies to threats all become part of a journalist life. To discuss the issue and highlight the truth NBA organized a seminar on 'Is it possible for a journalist to remain ethical and still be successful?'
Sudesh Verma is a senior journalist. His last assignment was as News Editor, News X. In a career spanning more than two decades, he worked for, among others, The Statesman, Deccan Chronicle, The Business Standard and India News Television Channel. His stint as Senior Political Analyst in the British High commission for over three years taught him lessons in bureaucracy but he realized his existence there was in stark contrast to the world outside. . Influenced by the ideal of becoming a factor for change, he became a socio-political activist and led Youth 4 Democracy movement for change.
Mr. Banerjee has worked in the news industry for close to a decade; he's been a familiar face on television and is the author of Tales from Shining and Sinking India. Mr. Banerjee has reported on politics and conflict-related issues from diverse locations across the Indian subcontinent for close to a decade. A known face on Indian Television. Mr. Banerjee has been associated with Headlines Today, Aaj Tak. At present he's is the Associate Vice President - Cluster Programming Head at Radio Mirchi.
Mr. Ujjwal Narayan has been in the news media industry for over a decade. He has been associated with organizations like Zee Network, Total TV and Dainik Jagran.
He discussed his struggles and incidents of his professional life where despite of pressure from various people outside and inside the organization he stood by his commitment to report the truth as a journalist.
Mr. Manoj Mishra started his journalism career in 1986 with Jansatta, where he became the first Delhi Education reporter. He has also been associated with Dinman, Chouthi Duniya, Danik Jagran, Navbharat Times, Dainik Hindustan. Also author of the book 'Maine Danga Dekha' Mr. Mishra shared his experiences of working in the field of journalism and pitfalls that one encounters.
NBA Group of Institutions organized a Mass Communication Seminar on the topic 'FALLING BRIDGE BETWEEN THE JOURNALISM AND MARKETING' as a part of an academic initiative.
The objective of the seminar was to help the students understand the dynamics of paid news, ethical reality and moral values with respect to today's media scenario. How the marketing department isn't the only department responsible for getting money and how various media houses have started selling news for the sake of money.
During the seminar an urgent need to protect the right of the people to accurate and unbiased information was highlighted before voters exercise their franchise in the electoral fray. Mr. Vineet Jain (Managing Director, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd.) once said and I quote 'We are not in the newspaper business, we are in the advertising business,' which shows as to how the corrupt practices have deep rooted itself in system. The speakers discussed the changing scenarios where the money has start seeping into the newsrooms which raises an ethical question on the working reality of a journalist.
At the end the speakers pointed out the amount of responsibilities that the next gen journalists have on their shoulders to keep themselves and the system clean. We at NBA group of Institutions have figured out the need and hence we have introduced various sessions on media ethics as an integral part of the curriculum for Bachelors of Mass Communication and Masters in Mass Communication.
Recently an Acting Workshop was conducted at NBA Group of Institutions by ChilSag Theater Group wherein NBA Students (GDMC + BMC Batch - 2014) participated and learned about acting skills. Chilsag International is an Indian Theatre organization founded by Sachin Gupta in 2003. During its 9 year history, the company has produced 13 original theatre productions and International tours, the brand has also launched a theatre magazine alongwith establishing a theatre laboratory.
Various kinds of situation & Scenarios were given to the students on which they acted & displayed their creativity. Around 10-12 performances happened during the workshop and the Trainers (Chilsag) gave their valuable inputs as to how it could be improved. As an outcome of the workshop the confidence level among students got increased & they gained good understanding about the appropriate way to become a professional anchor.
The NBA Group of Institutions is a place for learning through hard work and fun. Living up to this spirit was yet another memorable event - Panache 2K14 held on 9 May 2014. It comprised of Theaters, group and solo categories dance performances, Singing competitions and Mr. and Ms. Panache 2K14.
As always, the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm; and the event brought out some hidden talents from them. There were some inspiring, stimulating and stunning routines from the students who boogied, bopped, pirouetted and jived to some exciting mix of never-before-heard songs/music. The performances would only have resulted from hours of devoted rehearsal and preparation by the participants laterally with the aid of the "NBA Students Committee members".

The show took off at 1:30pm and as all good times fly, lasted till what seemed to be a very early 6 pm.
There were different genres of entertainment thrown in between by students and one of the dance groups The Desi Swag(Bhangra Group) put up a startling show and the audience was not going to sit still as mere spectators and soon the stage belonged to one and all. The show climaxed to an electrifying and exhilarating end as the music united all, into a performance in unison - one to be truly remembered at the NBA Group of Institutions.
NBA Group of Institutions organized Christmas Carnival on 24th December. It was a much awaited event and the students were very excited to be a part of such a happening event. The students were fully involved, right from setting up the stalls and taking care of all the details which went into making it a very successful show.
The Carnival started around 10 in the morning. There were an array of stalls ranging from games to food, drinks, dance and music.
The students had put up a stall serving amazing mocktails. There were food stalls selling lip smacking chole kulche. There were delicious sandwiches, brownies, muffins, maggi, momos and the yummiest was gajar ka halwa. The students had come up with very interesting games like blowing all the candles with one matchstick, lucky 7, hitting maximum number of glasses with a ball, dancing with a ring around the waist and jail bail which was a unique concept. The students blindfolded the contestants and then they were supposed to stick e-bindi on the forehead of a girl's picture or put a moustache on a man's photograph.
There was music on demand stall belting out the latest and most happening numbers which had the audience grooving. A discotheque had been set up where the students could dance to their hearts content. The ambience of the discotheque was mind blowing.
The carnival ended on a beautiful note with the students wanting more of it. All in all it was a great show and a great start to Christmas.
